Starting off strong
THE CHALLENGE: Eli will begin first grade in the fall. Although he could already read some words, he was still developing fluency and confidence as an emerging reader. His grandparents were concerned that he needed stronger foundational reading skills before the new school year began. Eli's family retained my services for a one-week intensive back-to-school program focused on foundational language arts, phonics, reading fluency, and comprehension. Through short, engaging activities, repeated reading, word work, and guided practice, we strengthened his recognition of vowels, letter sounds, sound patterns, and basic comprehension skills.
THE END RESULT: When Eli first came to me, he could not consistently recall his vowels. By the end of the intensive week, he was identifying them confidently and reading short passages independently.
