THE CHALLENGE: Linda is a 70-year-old woman living in a retirement community while managing a bone-density disorder. Although her children are actively involved in her life, both work full time, which can make it difficult for them to attend medical appointments, follow-up visits, testing, and injections. Linda retained my services as a medical companion. I transported her to her specialist appointment, remained with her throughout the visit, took detailed notes, and—with her permission—asked clarifying questions to help ensure that instructions and next steps were fully understood. When the appointment unexpectedly expanded to include same-day imaging and additional testing, I helped coordinate the process and stayed with Linda throughout. Afterward, I prepared a written summary of the visit for Linda and the family members she designated.
THE END RESULT: Linda received continuous support throughout a more complex medical visit than originally anticipated, while her family received a clear and accurate account of the appointment, testing, and follow-up plan. The service allowed Linda to attend with confidence and gave her children peace of mind without requiring them to miss a full workday.
